Our Founder: Mollie Woods Hare

OUR STORY

Rooted in Service, Growing with Our Community

Mollie Woods, a visionary educator and advocate who believed that children and adults with disabilities deserved dignity, opportunity, and compassionate care. In 1913, she established Woods as a small residential school in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, creating a nurturing environment where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities could learn, grow, and thrive at a time when few services existed. Mollie Woods’ forward-thinking philosophy emphasized individualized education, life skills development, and community inclusion—principles that continue to guide the organization today. Her legacy lives on through comprehensive continuum of care, innovative programs, and unwavering commitment to helping people lead meaningful, self-directed lives.
