At The Medical Center at Woods, we understand that a visit to the doctor can be a significant challenge for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, neurodiversity, or mental health challenges. We’ve worked hard to become a national model for providing comprehensive, coordinated health care to kids and adults with special needs.
OUR TRAINED TEAM
Our Primary Care Providers (PCPs) and support team have specific training and expertise in providing care to individuals with a wide range of conditions such as Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and other developmental disabilities. Each member of our team is trained in non-verbal and specialty communication techniques to make sure each patient feels safe and comfortable.
OUR FACILITY
From sensory-friendly waiting areas to specially designed spaces that accommodate wheelchairs, every aspect of our care is designed to meet each patient’s unique needs.
We encourage patients to visit our facility for a non-treatment appointment to become familiar and comfortable with our team and surroundings. Patients who have pre-visited us often have smoother, less anxious, more relaxed treatment appointments.
